A Fly In The Champagne, Kelly Slater and Andy Irons (DVD)
An excerpt from A Fly In The Champagne authored by Sal Masekela: Nobody was expecting this trip to happen. To get two seemingly mortal enemies to agree to sequester themselves on a tiny island with a half-dozen cameramen, a Hollywood interviewer capable of conjuring up tears during any interview, and an in-the-know magazine staff waiting with bated breath seemed like a ridiculous notion. Despite hectic schedules, preconceived notions, and the most heated rivalry in modern surf history, somehow it all came together. The end result was a ten-day purge of feelings, emotional baggage, dispelling rumors, talking it out, and a burying of the hatchet once and for all. Oh, we nearly forgot to mention that the waves were insane!

Growing up on the Jersey Shore I wish I had one of these. Summertime super hero rent-a-cops ready to ticket you for indecent exposure when changing in and out of your suit. Only summertime though.......but for the NW...it's all about being warm. Honestly, you could just get naked and change since there is not a soul around the places we surf but again for us it's all about keeping your core warm after the session.

The Quiksilver trials kicks off on Feb 27th, with the main event competition window stretching right through to March 11th. The number one event each year on the ASP Mens World Tour sees the top 45 surfers and three wildcards surf it out in the perfect waves of Queensland’s Gold Coast for a share in $340,000 US dollars and the all-important lead in the race for the world title. Nine-times world surfing champion and the man now regarded as perhaps the greatest athlete in the world today, Kelly Slater, will defend his Quik Pro title – won over local legend and 2007 World Champ Mick Fanning at Snapper last year.
